Search analytics email report counts don’t match search dashboard counts

Problem description

The search analytics report received via email has counts that do not match what you see when viewing the analytics via the insights dashboard.

Explanation of differences

The reason the report counts differ is due to slight differences in how and when the email report is generated.

The email report is sent at a point in time and is based on the time period (in days) since the previous report was sent, determined by the report frequency.

Where:

  • daily = 1 day

  • weekly = 7 days

  • fortnightly = 14 days

  • month = 30 days

The monthly analytics report within the insights dashboard is generated via the analytics API which applies a lookup based on the month instead of the past 30 days.
