Search analytics
Funnelback produces a number of search analytics reports that provide insight into how the search is being used.
The search queries that are answered by Funnelback are logged along with the originating IP address. By default, Funnelback also logs clicks on search results, faceted navigation, contextual navigation and best bets.
Search analytics reports
Five search analytics reports are generated by Funnelback:
-
Search analytics overview
-

-
Clicks
-
Location
-
Trends
How are queries counted?
Queries are counted by session - this means that if you search access multiple pages of the search results this will only count as a single query in the search analytics.
If the query is modified at all (including applying facets or other constraints) then this will count as a new query, though it may look like the same query in the analytics if the query term is the same and other constraints are set as system parameters.
Configuring the report generation
There are a number of options that can be set that configure the analytics reports building in Funnelback.
Configuring notification of reports
Configure receiving emails with a summary of queries and/or trend alert notifications.
Updating analytics reports
Analytics reports are updated automatically via a scheduled task, or can be run manually by a search administrator.
The update_reports.log
for the search package captures messages generated during an analytics update.
Search analytics API
Analytics data is available via the Funnelback admin API.
