Better, Faster, Smarter

Panoptic V4.0 features significantly increased capacity, functionality and speed as well as improvements to result quality. Mechanisms for internal/external and restricted-scope searches are now faster and more robust. More document formats are handled and documents are gathered for indexing either by crawling or by [selectively] copying from local or remote-mounted filesystems.

  • Based on RedHat Linux 7.2.

  • Capacity to handle millions of documents.

  • Much faster query-biased summaries.

  • Much faster query caching (if needed).

  • PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PostScript, RTF, HTML, XML.

  • NFS, Samba, Novell.

  • Result URLs can be arbitrarily transformed.

  • Reranking by date as well as relevance.

More languages

All Western-European (ISO-8859-1) languages: namely Afrikaans, Basque, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, English, Faeroese, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Icelandic, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Scottish, Spanish, and Swedish are supported.

Greater customizability

Panoptic results are now generated in XML according to a published DTD and converted to HTML for display. Customers and integrators now have total flexibility in customizing result presentation. A description and an example are available.

More flexible administration

Administrative functions have been generalised and simplified; most of them can now be initiated and controlled either from a greatly enhanced graphical interface or by typing simple commands. Panoptic is now even easier to install. Administrators have flexibility in choosing package and filesystem locations.
