Upgrading a legacy events search

This guide provides steps that can be followed to upgrade an old legacy events search (that specifies the -events=on query processor option.)

This process provides almost the same functionality that the legacy events mode provided, with the exception of running queries that specified multiple event dates and ranges. These are searches with query strings that resulted in multiple ranges/individual dates being run (such as my search % O=20200115 O=20230303 O>20230303 O<20230501 O=20240402 which is specifying 3 dates/ranges).

Existing searches that use legacy events mode will need to make the following changes:

  • Remove the query processor options relating to the old events mode (-events=on, -service_volume=low or -daat=0)

  • Enable and configure the Clone documents plugin to clone your event pages.

  • Update any event queries (queries where you have something like example % O>20240103) to supply the new numeric metadata CGI parameters, and enable/disable results collapsing as required.

See: Clone events page for an example of how to use the clone documents plugin to provide an events search.
