User account type quick reference

Matrix offers several User account types that help you categorize and sort the users in your Matrix system.

It can sometimes be difficult to choose the right type of account for a specific user. For example, should you select a system administrator account or a backend user account when setting up site owners? How much access to the admin interface do I want my content team to have?

The following table summarizes Matrix’s different user account types with functional abilities listed.

Click each link in the table header to visit the summary page for each user account type, which includes usage scenarios. Read User account type quick reference to get a summary of how each permission type affects what users can do based on their user account type.

Some account types can also have temporary workflow permissions granted that let them approve or reject changes made by other users. Read the Workflows documentation for more information about temporary access permissions.
