Content Intelligence & Conversational Search FAQs

This page contains frequently asked questions about Squiz Content Intelligence (CI) and its integration with Conversational Search (CS).

Audits, pricing & commercial terms

  1. If you scan your site, then create a new page and run another scan, does that count as a new audit?

After the initial scan, subsequent scans will only audit new pages or pages that have changed since the last audit. Unchanged pages do not count toward your audit limits. See Getting started for more information.

  2. Are you billed extra for running more than one domain or site per contract?

No, you are only billed for page audits. You can run multiple domains under a single license subscription as long as you remain within your overall page audit allocation. For details, refer to Getting started.

  3. Is there a practical limit for the number of scans?

No practical limit exists for the number of scans you can perform. However, your overall page audit usage depends on the number of new or modified pages detected across those scans. See Getting started.

  4. Can you run just one audit rather than both (Accessibility or AI Readiness)?

Not for Accessibility; all in-scope pages will be audited during the evaluation pass. For AI Readiness you can determine when the initial audit for each topic occurs. For more on configuration options, check Getting started.

  5. Is there a recommended way to estimate how many audits you need?

Squiz is developing a pre-crawl capability that will help you estimate page audit requirements before you commit.

Configuration & governance

  1. How often should you review your content or run a scan?

A monthly frequency is recommended to ensure you have reasonably fresh intelligence insights without placing unnecessary processing loads on your live sites. See the Getting started guidelines.

  2. During setup, the input field "What is the purpose of your website?"—what impact does this have?

This field gives the AI Readiness Auditor context about your site’s strategic goals, helping the underlying LLM generate more relevant insights and audit assessments.

  3. What permissions and scan allowance controls are available?

During the initial release, conversational history and audit usage views are restricted. Future updates will be detailed in Getting started.

  4. Can you restrict results to specific team members?

Not at a granular access-control level. Filters are available to help specific teams target and focus on the subset of content that matters to them. See Getting started.

  5. Can you restrict AI access at a site, folder, or metadata level?

Content Intelligence crawls public website content and can be restricted to specific inclusion or exclusion URL patterns through setup controls. For full configurations, review Getting started.

  6. Are role-based access controls aligned with existing Squiz permissions?

Content Intelligence inherits and uses the same foundational role-based access controls that are globally available across the Squiz DXP platform. Refer to Getting started.

  7. Can separate roles isolate Content Intelligence access when your organization shares a Squiz DXP console with other organizations?

No. Content Intelligence does not support granular tenancy role silos within a shared console at this time.

Crawl scope & content coverage

  1. Can you audit only part of your site in Squiz Content Intelligence?

Yes, indirectly. CI can be configured to focus on a smaller subset or specific path of your site using prefix rules. Learn how in Add a site.

  2. Can you exclude certain URL stems, for example uni.edu/news?

Yes, you can configure exclusions to ensure specific URL stems or content areas are bypassed entirely during processing. See Add a site.

  3. Does Content Intelligence scan or index content beyond what is explicitly configured?

Content Intelligence only scans content that you have explicitly configured for inclusion within your scan settings. For scope rules, see Add a site.

  4. What counts as a changed page, and are unchanged pages excluded from a crawl?

No page is ever intentionally excluded from an initial crawl discovery phase; the system processes pages to check for modifications, but only charges your audit usage tier if the page content has actively changed. Learn more at Accessibility Auditor.

  5. Are updated pages picked up immediately, or upon the next monthly scan run?

CI will automatically discover and evaluate these changes the next time your scheduled scan runs (typically monthly). Check About audits.

  6. If you update one page five times between audits or scans, does CI evaluate all five versions or just the latest?

It only evaluates the latest version live at the time the scan is executed. If a page is set to run monthly, it captures that singular checkpoint state. See Accessibility Auditor.

  7. Can you scan across subfolders or slices of content rather than the whole site?

There are a couple of points at which you can control scan boundaries, enabling you to crawl specific sections, subfolders, or designated slices. See Add a site.

Accessibility Auditor

  1. Accessibility has both technical and non-technical rules. Does Content Intelligence check both?

The majority of the rules focus on technical conformance. Content Intelligence analyzes the semantic layout and markup against standard guidelines. See Accessibility Auditor.

  2. There is a free accessibility tester in Google Chrome and there are other free tools online. Why should you pay for this?

Continuous, enterprise-wide automated scans track your accessibility compliance history over time, rather than requiring manual page-by-page ad hoc checks.

  3. What accessibility standard is used?

Content Intelligence uses WCAG 2.2 (AA and AAA), which is the globally recognized framework for digital accessibility compliance. See Accessibility Auditor.

  4. How is accessibility issue severity ranked and prioritized in CI?

Prioritization is determined by a combination of the explicit WCAG Issue Category severity weights and the frequency and impact of the error across the page. See Accessibility Auditor.

  5. How does the "Generate smart fix" button work?

For the Accessibility Auditor, priority issues will normally have specific recommended code or content remedies displayed when you select the fix action. Check Suggested fixes.

AI Readiness Auditor

  1. Can Content Intelligence scan social media or LinkedIn posts to check whether your content is aligned?

No. Content Intelligence only crawls and analyzes structured page content on your designated website domains.

  2. Do you need to fix every question to see a difference in your Optimization Score?

No. Content Intelligence prioritizes questions for you so you can focus on resolving the highest priority items to improve your score. Review AI Readiness.

  3. Can CI scan non-live content (for example, Google Docs) or manually imported files?

No. Content Intelligence only analyzes published, publicly available web content accessible through standard URL routing structures.

  4. How does Content Intelligence determine what the questions should be?

Content Intelligence provides an LLM with the raw page content, the type of page, and the overall contextual topic mapping to extrapolate the relevant questions you might expect to be answered. For more details, see AI Readiness.

  5. Can topics be filtered at a granular level, for example domestic undergraduate versus international postgraduate?

Not at this time. Topics are dynamically determined by the AI engine based on text patterns rather than manual taxonomy filters.

  6. What happens when you click into one of these questions? Do you get a view of why it was generated and what the answer is?

Yes, you are presented with a detailed operational view that breaks down the generation context into two distinct tabs: 'Responses' and 'Source'. See AI Readiness.

  7. Is there a way to see all the questions the LLM generated for a single page in one view?

No, you can only see questions organized and grouped directly under each specific AI-generated topic bucket rather than a single flat list. See AI Readiness.
