For major and breaking changes, best practice is often to create a new template rather than drastically altering an existing one.
Personalization and A/B testing
Personalization can be used on template-managed content.
A/B Testing is not supported in templates.

Common template issues
- Template not appearing in available templates list

Ensure the template is published. That is, ensure the template is live.

Check that the template is added to the site’s available templates in the DXP settings section.

Verify user has appropriate permissions, such as those for a Site Builder.

- Content not displaying correctly after template application

Verify that all required components are still available.

Ensure template zones are properly configured.

- Cannot edit content in template-managed zones

This is expected behavior for locked, template-managed zones.

Check if prevent content changes is enabled for the specific component.

Use page-managed zones for editable content areas.
