Search

The search feature lets you search across comments, news, events, and documents based on the content permissions of your community memberships. Search is available from the header on all pages and the welcome bar on the homepage by default.

Search results are returned based on the content permissions inherited from your community memberships rather than your Workplace user type. Private community content remains discoverable only by community members. Content posted in public communities is discoverable by all users.

Read the Funnelback Query Language help documentation for an overview of how to perform advanced searches using different query operators. This help documentation lists the available query types and links to an example results page for each one.

Search results page

Whenever you conduct a keyword search, you are always directed to the Search results page.

You can filter the results by content type and date and sort the results according to relevancy or date.

Clicking on one of the results will take you to that content.

Searching from the header

You can search from the header of every page within Squiz Workplace.

To search for content in your Workplace site:

  1. Click the Search (magnifying glass) button within the header to access the search bar.

  2. Begin typing a search query.

  3. Use one of the following methods to view the search results:

    Option 1

If the dropdown search console appears with suggestions for keywords, staff, or documents, you can click on a suggested option. Doing this will take you to the content page for the option you clicked.

    Option 2

If you don’t want to be taken directly to a content page, or what you’re looking for does not appear in the dropdown search console, press Return on your keyboard. Doing this will take you to the Search results page.

Searching from the homepage welcome bar

Search from the welcome bar operates the same way as site search (available from the header on every page).

  1. Click the Search text within the welcome bar to access the search bar.

Filter your search results

Once you have searched for your query, you can filter the search results. Default settings of Squiz Workplace allow you to filter the search results by:

Date

The published date of the content. For example, Past week, Past fortnight.

Content type

For example, Web pages, News.

To filter your search results:

  1. Locate the Filter section of the Search results page.

  2. Click on a filter accordion to expand it (for example, Content type).

  3. Select one of the checkboxes inside the accordion to select a filter to apply (for example, Web pages).

  4. The directory will filter out any of the search results that do not apply to your selection.

You can repeat the two previous steps if you want to add additional filters.
  5. To restore your original search results list, remove the filters.

Sort your search results

If you would like to sort your search results, you can use the Sort by functionality. By default, Squiz Workplace allows you to sort the search results by:

  • Relevance (to your search query).

  • Date ascending (oldest to most recently published).

  • Date descending (most recent to oldest published).

To sort your search results:

  1. On the Search results page, locate the Sort by section.

  2. Click the Sort by dropdown menu.

  3. Select one of the following options:

    • Relevancy

    • Date ascending

    • Date descending.
