Create an exclusive segment group

The segmentation feature lets you create exclusive segments within the platform so customers can only be placed in one segment group.

Before you start

Read About segmentation types to understand the differences between single and mutually exclusive group types.

Read Create a single segment to familiarise yourself with the basic fields that apply to each segment group.

Follow these steps to begin creating an exclusive segment:

Click Segmentation from the navigation.
Click Create a new segment.
Click Mutually exclusive group.
Specify a Group Name for the exclusive segment group. This name helps users identify the group and its purpose in other Squiz DXP services.
The system creates two placeholder segments: Segment 1 and Segment 2. These can be seen in the tab bar at the top of the Details section:

1 As you add a name to the required Name field, the name on the corresponding tab will be updated.

2 You can also add a new segment with the + Add segment button if you require more than two.
Configure your segments as required. The article Create a single segment offers tips for completing the basic fields.
Repeat this process for all segments within the exclusive segment group, ensuring they are distinct and mutually exclusive.
Review the settings to ensure accuracy and completeness after defining all the segments within the exclusive segment group.
Click Save or Create to finalize the creation of the exclusive segment group and its associated segments.

The exclusive segment appears on the segment listing page, along with other single segments.
