About segmentation types
You can Create a single segment or Create an exclusive segment group to categorise your website users.
There are some differences to note about segmentation types.
Single segments
Customers that match a single segment can appear in one or more segments. You can think of these segments as inclusive groups because a customer can be included in one or more matching groups based on the separate conditions defined in the segments.
Consider a segment that allows your customers to choose whether they see information for students or faculty staff. If you want your University prospects to opt into segments for Students and Faculty, consider using single segments.
Mutually exclusive groups
Customers that match an exclusive segmentation group can only appear in one of the segments configured in the group.
Consider a segment requiring website users to identify themselves as either students or faculty staff. If you want your University prospects to only appear in either Students or Faculty, configure these segments as mutually exclusive.
