The brief is the text you enter on the What should your page include? screen. Spark uses it to decide what the page is for, what content to include, and how to arrange it.
A clear brief gives Spark more to work with and reduces the amount of editing you do afterward.
What to include
Describe the following in your brief:
- The purpose of the page and who it is for. For example, "a page that tells new students how to enroll".
- The key points or sections the page needs, in the order you want them.
- Specific facts that must appear, such as dates, names, locations, and contact details.
- Calls to action, such as a button that links visitors to a form.
- The tone of voice, if your organization has not already set it in page creation guidelines.
If you have a document that already contains the content, add it as a reference file instead of pasting the text into the brief. Read Add reference files to a brief for more information on this topic.
Example briefs
A short brief gives Spark a topic but little direction:
Generate a new privacy policy page.A detailed brief tells Spark what the page needs to contain:
Create an event page for our annual open house on March 12.
Include a short introduction, the event schedule, a map and directions, and a registration button.
Write for prospective students and their families in a friendly tone.Describe the page in a few short paragraphs and add longer source material as a file.
Start from a file
You can leave the brief blank if you add at least one file.
For example, you can upload a policy document and let Spark build the page from it. Spark enables Next when you enter a brief, add a file, or both.
Guidelines for briefs
- Do not include passwords, personal information, or other sensitive details in a brief.
- Spark rejects briefs that conflict with its content safety policies. If this happens, revise your brief and try again. Read Spark page creation errors for more information on this topic.
