A user sees Spark in Squiz Content Management when both of the following are true:
- Spark is turned on for your organization, with Page Creation on.
- The user is allowed to use Spark in the Squiz Content Management system configuration.
This page describes how to set the second condition.
Before you start
- You are the root user of Squiz Content Management. Only the root user can change DXP services settings.
- Check that Spark is activated for your instance.
- You know which user groups need access to Spark. Each user must also have a Squiz DXP user account to connect to Spark. Read Open Spark and connect for more information about this topic.

When Allow all users is off and no groups are selected, nobody can see Spark. |
Allow specific user groups
- Sign in to Squiz Content Management as the root user.
- Open the system configuration screen, then open DXP services.
- In the Spark section, make sure Allow all users is off.
- In Allowed user groups, enter the asset ID of a user group, or select the user group in the asset tree.
Select the plus button to add more user groups.
- Save your changes.
If a selected group is not valid, Content Management shows the message Unable to save changes. One or more Spark allowed user groups are invalid. Remove the group, then save again.
Allow all users
- Open the Spark section of DXP services, as described in the previous procedure.
- Turn on Allow all users.
All Content Management backend users can see and use Spark. When you save, Content Management clears any groups you selected earlier.
- Save your changes.
How Spark uses a user’s access
Spark creates pages through the signed-in user’s Content Management session. Content Management records the activity in the logs as the user’s action performed through Spark.
A user can create a page with Spark only in a location where they have write access. If a user does not have write access to the location, Spark cannot create the page there.
