Content Optimiser

Introduction

The Content Optimiser is a tool to help improve the search ranking of a specific page for a specific query. Given a query and a page URL, it lists a series of simple steps that could be taken to improve the ranking of the selected document for that query.

Accessing the content optimiser

You can access the content optimiser from the Administration UI or direct at the URL /s/content-optimiser/ (where /s/ is the modernui path defined in Global.cfg). To access the optimiser from the Administration UI:

  1. Go to the "Manage Collection" section of the administration home page.
  2. Use the drop-down menu to select the collection that serves the results you want to optimise.
  3. Click on the "Tuning" tab.
  4. Click on the Content Optimiser link.

There are two modes for the content optimiser - text view, and advanced view. Advanced view is intended to be used by experienced users or administrators who are able to tune the ranking parameters. Both modes are accessible from the Tuning tab in the admin interface. It is recommended for new users to start with text only mode.

Configuring non-admin access to the content optimiser

By default the content optimiser is available on both the admin port and the search port. However, if you wish to prevent non-admin users from accessing the optimiser, you can use the setting contentoptimiser.non.admin.access in global.cfg or collection.cfg.

The content optimiser will always be available to admin users through the admin port.
